Duties and Responsibilities
Assess student stage of development and promote student growth.
Assist students in establishing realistic and attainable academic and career goals.
Advise students on academic, career and personal issues.
Advise and assist students in identifying and registering for internships.
Maintain student records.
Interpret and explain college and university policies and procedures.
Participate in orientation and present academic information to new students and parents.
Assist students with admission and registration issues.
Arizona Board of Regents Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to area of assignment AND one year of academic advising experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or MA degree in field related to social sciences and/or public administration policy.
At least two years of academic advising with preferred advising at the University of Arizona.
Position Summary
The School of Government and Public Policy is seeking applicants for an academic advisor position. The academic advisor will interview and advise students regarding information, procedures and academic requirements specific to the BS degree in the School of Government and Public Policy as well as the general education requirements of The University of Arizona.
