Position Summary
The Store Furniture Specialist-Key Carrier is responsible for driving sales and profitability by providing personalized guidance to consumers to help identify and qualify the appropriate solution to meet the customer’s needs. This position also serves as the in-store expert for furniture related questions and supports sales and marketing activities for all areas within the store. In addition, this position will perform Manager on Duty responsibilities as outlined in the MOD standards.
Position Responsibilities
1. Initiate action with customers shopping for furniture and provide impartial, knowledgeable advice about furniture products.
2. Qualify customers to identify their needs with respect to furniture products in order to customize and deliver a solution that best fits those needs, including accessories and services.
3. Provide excellent customer service during and after the sale to optimize the customer’s shopping experience
4. Use subject matter expertise to drive sales and customer awareness of the OfficeMax furniture selection.
5. Meet sales objectives and goals, including attachment and up-selling goals as established by the company.
6. Perform Manager on Duty responsibilities as outlined in the MOD standards.
7. Perform all opening and closing functions, including all cash handling functions, daily balancing and reconciliation process and security of the building.
8. Be aware of and perform the management responsibilities of all situations outlined in the Emergency Response Guide.
9. Respond to off hours emergency alarm calls as needed.
10. Support the store’s shrink and theft awareness program and advise management of any unusual activity using the various reporting methods provided by the company (800 number, Open Door Policy, contacting Loss Prevention or Human Resources team).
11. Use radios and headsets to answer questions and assist store team members to recommend the best total sales solution.
12. Train the store’s associate team on current OMX furniture product offerings as well as new items being introduced to the company’s furniture assortment.
13. Support store leadership to achieve best set standards for the furniture area including execution to planograms, pricing and signage programs, and maintenance of data integrity.
14. Perform additional basic duties of Store Associate including register sales transactions and to ensure that store is clean, organized, and pricing signage is in order.
15. Answer phones as needed to respond to customer inquiries related to the customer order entry system or to direct calls to appropriate party.

Qualifications
Position Requirements
• Minimum two years experience in retail/store operations and/or furniture sales
• Ability to work a full-time flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as necessary
• Excellent communication skills required (emphasis on listening skills and presentation skills)
• Able to work independently and handle multiple tasks
• Able to analyze situations and gather information to develop sound, ethical business solutions
• Ability to use electronic communication devices during all working hours which includes wearing a headset or a device on or in the ear
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds regularly and climb ladders
