Senior Software Developer Research Scientis SPARTA, Inc.

Sparta is looking for a highly self-motivated individual with a background in computer and network security to join a collaborative team working on government sponsored research and development projects. The ideal candidate will work in one or more research teams, as well as assist in project leadership, technical direction, and proposal development.

M.S. (Ph.D. a plus) in CS, CE, EE, or closely related field. Strong background in computer and/or network security, including: host/network/wireless intrusion detection/prevention, traffic monitoring and filtering, applied cryptography, malicious code defense, security policy and management, high-performance assurance and forensics, analysis of threats, attacks, vulnerabilities, and security architectures, operating system internals, and development of high-assurance systems. Academic or industrial research experience with major funding agencies such as DARPA, HSARPA, IARPA, and NSF is desirable. Significant experience programming in assembler, C, or C++ as part of a large team. Unix kernel and/or network programming experience a plus. Familiarity with software engineering and security engineering methodologies is desirable.

Ability to work in a self-directed and independent manner. Experience in leading projects and/or providing technical direction to junior members of a team. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with the research and development model, similar to that in universities or other commercial R&D labs. Past research publications and proposal writing interest a plus.
