A leading independent oil and gas exploration and production company seeks Counsel with 8+ years of experience practicing employment law. The candidate will manage the legal aspects of the company’s Human Resources functions and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations. Will manage and supervise employment litigation conducted on company’s behalf, including investigation of facts, formulation of strategies, and review of litigation documents. Where appropriate, handle litigation matters or claims in-house. Negotiate, draft, and provide counsel regarding policies, procedures, agreements, benefit plans and written guidelines used by company regarding employment practices. Participate in, and provide guidance on Human Resources Department responsibilities, including such matters as internal investigations, employee relations, recruiting, and training. Participate in design and implementation of Human Resources Department training relative to employment practices, policies, benefits, and procedures to develop and discipline employees. Direct and/or conduct activities in response to unemployment and workers’ compensation claims. Lead or participate in formulating responses to inquiries from administrative agencies on behalf of the company. The candidate should have a legal degree from accredited law school with excellent academic qualifications. Should have license to practice law in Oklahoma. Must have thorough knowledge of employment and labor law. Should have a working knowledge of ERISA law.
