GS Shipper Mesquite PSS World Medical, Inc





The Shipper is responsible for the accurate checking or counting of all products for outbound freight. The Shipper is also responsible for ensuring that all product is free of damage and infestation and that production code dates are properly recorded. The Shipper assures that the quantity, quality, labeling, and addressing of order corresponds to customer specifications or the requirements of the packing slip.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

High school degree or G.E.D. required. Must be able to lift between 50 – 100 pounds and have previous experience with forklift operation. Forklift license required. Must have a good driving record and adequate transportation. Must have some background in shipping and receiving.

PREFERRED OFFICE/MACHINE EQUIPMENT EXPERIENCE:

Capable with a personal computer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Outbound Freight:
Prior to product shipment, count all product, compare to packing slip, and check all shipments for damage, infestation, and expiration dates.
Report shortages, damages, and miss picks on appropriate forms and inform Warehouse Supervisors of the corrections needed.
Check contents of all orders filled by the product pullers.
Compare the quantity, quality, labeling, and address with customer’s order to insure outgoing shipments are complete and correct.

Equipment:
Safely and efficiently operate forklift or any other materials handling equipment as required, and assist in the loading or unloading of merchandise moving into or out of the warehouse as needed.

Safety, Sanitation, Security:
Maintain a clean; neat, and orderly work area. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety and security. Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards.

Must maintain a good attendance record.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Help prepare shipping documents and assist in the loading of the outbound shipment.
Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse.
Participate in physical inventories as necessary.
Perform any other tasks as assigned.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be subject to a typical warehouse environment (heat, cold, hard floors) and is often exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee must be able to stand for long periods of time.

Analytical skills, resourceful and well organized. Good grammar, verbal and writing skills. High energy, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities. Excellent interpersonal abilities, ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature and flexible. Ability to establish credibility and be decisive but be able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities. Service oriented, but assertive/persuasive.
