Northwest Rural Nurse Residency for Rural Generalists
The five-state rural nurse residency is funded by a Health Resources and Services Administration Nurse Education Practice and Retention grant (D11HP11127). The Idaho State University School of Nursing works in partnership with The Hospital Cooperative, the Idaho Rural Institute of Health, the Montana and Wyoming offices of rural health, the Western Washington Area Health Education Center and the Alaska Hospital and Nursing Home Association.
The Idaho State University School of Nursing has applied to be an approved provider of continuing education by the Idaho State Nurses Association, an accredited approver of the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
The rural generalist residency is a five state collaboration among rural health-care providers and Idaho State University School of Nursing.
The 12-month competency-based program provides the national residency standards and evidence for new graduates, re-entry nurses and those transferring from urban to rural settings.
