you have to have a BSN bachelors in science of nursing first. practice in the hospital as a nurse for at least 2 years and then apply for a masters degree in nursing which will lead you to NP nurse practitioner. however. there are some changes going on in the nursing field that may or may not require you to have a doctorate to practice as an NP or FP family practitioner.

Most nurse practioners start off with an Undergraduate Degree in Nursing and then go on to get a Masters degree in Nursing. It will probably take 6-8 years to become a full NP. There is much more information at the link provided below.

All colleges differ in their requirements when enrolling. For example some may require higher grades than others.
Why dont you have a look at this website and you should be able to find answers to your questions.

Good luck : )

You need to major in Nursing. Nurse Practitioner are masters level nurses. So you need a 4 year bachelors Registered Nurse degree. Pass the licensing exam for RNs. Then most Nurse Practitioner programs require that you work full time for at least 1 year as an RN and then you need to complete a 2 year masters program. Then you need to pass a second license exam.
