What are some good career options for someone interested in the medical field?

I am interested in changing careers from a school counselor to something in the medical field. I enjoy the helping aspect of the field as well as am interested in its investigative nature and of course pay. However, before I go adding anymore debt to my already ridiculous student loans I need to figure out exactly what career path I should follow. I know it seems sensible to go the psychiatrist route with my background but I’m not to into it anymore. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what some possible careers may be. Anything you offer will be a great help thanks!
